If I only had this type of project my career would take off. If I only had this type of client my future would be set. It is not uncommon, nor is it unadvisable to have these thoughts and hopes to get a big break in business.
I personally will day dream about how amazing it would be to get hired to shoot a cover for ESPN The Magazine or to get a call from Emma Stone demanding we work together and how much my career would blossom after that.
The tricky part is not to let the desire of getting a big break become a roadblock preventing you from doing the hard work it takes to make your own break.
I’ve seen many, including some of my friends, keep their foot on the brake waiting for their break. Move your foot a few inches to the right and begin to advance yourself.
